Divina Pastora Shopping Center

The Divina Pastora Shopping Center is a project designed and constructed by Engineer Ivanna Rincon and the construction firm Promotora RR19. This development features a two-story building with ten commercial units lining its façade; situated on the corner of the sector’s main avenue, the structure allows for easy viewing of each individual unit from any angle. The design adopts a contemporary industrial style evident in the use of metal elements such as columns, beams, and structural profiles.

In this type of structural industrial design, the underlying structure is exposed as an aesthetic element, combining the use of materials such as concrete block, brick, cladding, stone, and metal for both interior and exterior finishes. This design showcases a modern and appealing aesthetic solid, high-quality, and durable making it perfect for the commercial development of retail spaces, offices, or business centers.

It is ideal for reducing structural loads and creating lighter foundations with enhanced seismic safety; as civil engineers know, a lighter design is significantly more efficient.

This type of construction allows for future structural growth and expansion to additional levels. It is fully adaptable, making it safe to continue building using the same iron and metal materials without compromising the integrity of the existing structure. Furthermore, this design simultaneously contributes to an appreciation in the property’s market value.

Contemporary industrial style construction represents a smart, efficient, and highly cost-effective solution, as it integrates three fundamental pillars: a solid structure, modern aesthetics, and functional flexibility. Its use of exposed steel, glass, and low maintenance materials enables faster construction at a lower cost, while offering superior seismic performance, reduced structural weight and load, and enhanced durability. Furthermore, its clean, minimalist design projects a professional and commercial image that increases the property’s value.

In this design, five different sizes of structural profiles were utilized to construct the entire framework of the building. For the roof which features a steel deck (or corrugated metal floor slab) poured with concrete the metal sheeting serves as both permanent formwork and structural reinforcement, while the concrete provides strength and rigidity.

The design features spacious corridors and storefront facades composed of tempered glass combined with the structural metal profiles. Furthermore, the exterior facade showcases a cladding in two colors of Spacatto a natural stone cut to size and laid in an interlocking pattern to create a rustic, elegant, and three-dimensional finish a style widely employed in modern architectural designs for facades and exteriors.
